Are you right for Lady?

Lady is a sensitive 2-year-old Labrador Rottweiler cross who is looking for a peaceful, understanding home where she can truly settle in and flourish. She finds the world a bit overwhelming at times, so is best suited to a quiet location with minimal visitors and patient people who can help her build confidence at her own pace. She can live with calm, sensible children aged 16 and over (younger may be considered in the right home) and has the potential to live with another well-matched dog, pending successful introductions. Lady will need a secure space where she can be calmly managed away from the front door when visitors come round. She must also have a cat-free home and, because we have no history of her in a home setting, her housetraining and leaving hours will need gentle guidance from scratch. A calm, predictable environment will give her the best chance to thrive.

Is Lady right for you?

Lady is a very special girl with heaps of potential and a gentle, loving soul. Once she has built a bond with you, she is incredibly affectionate and will happily clamber onto your lap for a cuddle, despite her size! She loves spending time with people she knows well, and while she can be shy at first, she warms up beautifully when given the space and time to go at her own pace. She can be wary of new people or unfamiliar situations, but her default is always appeasement and she takes great comfort in the company of someone she trusts. She is copes well with having her harness fitted slowly and quietly and will benefit from continuing this gently at home. Lady enjoys toys (tennis balls are a firm favourite), takes her treats gently, and is more than happy to be brushed or handled when she is feeling safe. She is not used to travelling and in noisy or busy traffic she will stick close to her handler for reassurance. Lady is not used to being left alone and may become distressed if left for too long so a home where someone is around most of the time will be important. She would love gentle walks and some low-key mental stimulation to help her build confidence and channel her energy positively. With the right support and a calm, consistent approach, Lady has all the makings of a loyal and affectionate best friend. If you can offer her the steady, reassuring home she is searching for, Lady will reward you tenfold with love, trust, and a very cuddly lap dog – once she has found her paws.
