Who we are

People have been at the heart of our story since we were founded by Lady Gertrude Stock in 1891.

Our passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers have driven our many achievements since then, from changing laws and expanding abroad to supporting thousands of dogs and owners.

Today, every member of the Dogs Trust family plays an important role. From canine carers and volunteers to our chief executive, we’re all here to help dogs and their owners now and into the future.

Over 30 years at Dogs Trust

Jo's story

Human heroes help us go the extra mile for dogs every day. One such hero is Jo at our Kenilworth rehoming centre, who has dedicated over 30 years to Dogs Trust working and volunteering as both a Canine career and at the reception.

Reflecting on her time at Dogs Trust, Jo says she will always treasure the happy days of staff tears because a dog has finally got a forever home after sometimes years of waiting:

"After the busiest day and going home knackered, I always go home knowing I made a difference. It may be only a drop in the ocean compared to some things, but you’ve made a difference. The dogs don’t ask to be here. People have put them in situations that led to them being here or handed them over here, and we do the best we can to make up for that."
