Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Shadow is a wonderful big girl who is looking for a home with her daughter and best friend Savanagh. They are inseperable and with us through no fault of their own. They are looking for an owner who has experience with their breed or similar and someone who can physically manage them as they are strong girls. They would benefit from an active owner that can take them on adventures!

Type of home needed

Shadow and Savanagh can live with children over the age of 12 years old. They will need to have direct access to their own secure garden with 6ft fence to give them somewhere safe to burn off some energy. They will need to be kept on lead when in public places as they can be selective about coming back.

More about me

Having someone around for most of the day initially to help them would be best but gradually the time they are left could be increased to 4 or 5 hours as they have coped with this in the past. They do get on well with other dogs but they are happiest in each others company. They cannot live with cats. Please only apply if your local lockdown restrictions allow you to travel to our centre. Shadow has recently had surgery to remove one of her eyes, she is doing well but the pair will be staying with us until she has fully recovered. To apply to adopt Shadow and Savanagh please click on the 'come and meet me' button below. Applications will close when we have found a suitable home. we can only contact the successful applicant. Due to current travel restrictions we are looking for a home within 30 minutes of the centre.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Shadow, who is based at Glasgow. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
