Rehoming by appointment

Our rehoming centres are open by appointment only. We're still rehoming, but we're doing things a little differently.

I'm looking for a new home...

Alfie is a small terrier cross with a big personality. He warms to people quickly, but can become so attached to his family that he then struggles to be away from them. He likes to perch himself on a comfortable human lap, and is quite content to settle with them there but he also really loves his walks! Although he is 10 years old, Alfie has a lot of energy and will always be enthusiastic for his next walking adventure. He needs quiet walking locations, as seeing other dogs out on his walks can be stressful for him. He loves a good game of fetch with a tennis ball, or a chance to hunt for tiny treats in the grass! Alfie is a fun-loving little adventurer and will make a wonderful companion to the right home.

Type of home needed

Alfie is looking for a quiet adult only home with no more than 2 people, and infrequent visitors. He must have his own secure garden and will need to be the only pet. Alfie will need help to settle into the new home, and adopters will receive support from our centre's behaviour team to implement different aspects of Alfie's training. Adopters must live within a 45 minute drive from the Canterbury centre as he will need multiple visits and home visits with our behaviour team to help him adjust to his new home.

More about me

If Alfie sounds like your perfect match please get in contact to express an interest. Please note if you rent your property you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog to complete the rehome process. Due to expected high levels of interest you will only hear back from us if we are able to proceed with your application. We will conduct a rehoming interview with successful applicants and home visit via video. Access to emails and video technology will be essential for this process.

We do everything we can to provide essential care for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs who need us, now more than ever. If you'd like to help us during these challenging times, please make a donation. Your support means so much to us all, thank you.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Canterbury Rehoming Centre in Kent.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
