Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public but you can still adopt some of our dogs: take a look at their profiles to see which ones. We can’t register interest for dogs who aren’t available for rehoming.

We’ve set up a new rehoming process which includes social distancing measures to help keep staff and adopters safe. We’re now matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can now meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment and this now applies to all of our rehoming centres in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Just like the fictional detective, Holmes loves to explore new environments and discover new challenges. His ideal day would consist of a lovely walk with wonderful sights and smells, some training with his favourite humans, followed with a snuggle on the sofa (or on your lap) for some much-needed affection. Holmes' past hasn't been as easy one as he is the sad antithesis of our Dogs Trust message "a dog is for life, not just for Christmas". Poor Holmes was an unwanted gift which we have never been to work out why. Once he knows you, which can take time and patience due to his history, you will have a friend for life. The love he shows is unconditional, and he would like nothing more than to have the same affection in return.

Type of home needed

Holmes has made huge progress with us at the centre. He enjoys his walks but even more so now as he is learning that having dog friends to join him can be a lovely experience. Although he enjoys his companions on his walks, Holmes would love nothing more than to be an only pet in the home to soak up all the affection he has missed out on over the years.

More about me

Although Holmes looks strong and confident, he is a sensitive chap who just needs that bit of extra patience to get to know new people. Holmes has been working hard with us on making new friends at the centre and has stolen everyone's hearts! Will you let him have yours? Only pet in the home, adult only home with no visiting children. We will only arrange an appointment for you to meet this dog once we have received your completed Homefinding Questionnaire, spoken with you on the phone, completed your home check and both parties have agreed this could be the right dog for you. Please contact us on 01980 629 634 to request a questionnaire and start the process.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...
