Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Rocko is a teeny weeny little Yorkie who would love to find a quiet home to settle in to after losing his owner. He's a nervous chap but isn't too bad if you're with him as he gets a lot of confidence from his handlers, and he comes around very quickly. Rocko thrives on attention and returns it tenfold, sometimes a little too much! He's quite a licky dog and this does sometimes escalate into a little nibble when he's overexcited.

Type of home needed

Rocko gets along fairly well with other dogs but definitely prefers quiet ones - he's also very little so probably won't appreciate anything large and intimidating. He will need a home where any children are aged over 16, due to the way he can nibble when excited. He doesn't mean any harm at all, he just gets carried away. He may be rather attached to you when he first come home so be prepared to have him permanently by your side! He is house trained but dogs will often toilet in the house when they first go to a new home so please be patient if he does this. He hasn't had a lot of training done with him and would definitely benefit from learning some basics.

More about me

Rocko will need a few visits to get to know him. As we can't offer those at the centre at the moment, he will stay safe with us until restrictions are lifted. If you are interested in adopting Rocko, please click "Come And Meet Me" below, and we can begin the process.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Rocko, who is based at Merseyside (Liverpool). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
