Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

I am currently looking for my new family. To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close once I have found a suitable match. Due to Jay's medical issues, his potential owners will need to live within 45 minutes drive of the centre.

Type of home needed

Jay is a loving 8 year old Yorkshire Terrier. Due to his medical condition, he is unable to walk too far. He is loves company of humans, so he's prefer owners who are around during the day for company. Jay hasn't had much doggy socialising and can be reactive on lead when he does see another dog out and about. Once he is introduced to a dog calmly, then he does settle. He could live with a smaller dog already established in the home, but it would need to be the right match for Jay. We are unsure if he can live with cats/small furries. Jay can live with children 11 years and over.

More about me

Jay loves his food and playing with his toys and he is also house trained. This sweet lad is looking for a quiet home here he can enjoy snuggling up in a nice comfy bed! Jay does have a medical condition; potential owners should be aware that there will be a financial commitment required for his medical costs.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Jay, who is based at Bridgend (Wales). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
