Dogs Trust

UPDATE: Our rehoming centres are closed until further notice, however we are now able to rehome a small number of our amazing dogs. Each dog’s profile will let you know if they are looking for a new home. For the time-being, we are unable to register your interest for dogs who are not yet available for rehoming.

Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public, but we are now able to start looking for new homes for some of the amazing dogs in our care. At the moment, there are only a small number of dogs who are ready for their new home, and we expect them to be very popular. Please bear with us once we have received your enquiry, and we will be in touch to talk further about whether you could be a perfect match! .

If you need urgent help regarding giving up your dog, please contact us immediately and we will offer you as much advice and support as we can. We’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs, while avoiding any close interaction with each other.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked and looked after. We’d like to say a big thank to you, for your continued support.

Sex:

Dexter is a 20 Month Old Border Collie, he is a handsome lad who can be a bit worried initially but given time and space, comes around quite quickly. Once he knows you, he loves a fuss and a cuddle. Dexter does get on with dog when he is out on walks but would prefer to be the only dog in the home as he does like his own space.

Type of home needed

Dexter is looking for new owners who will offer him lots of support and tasty treats when he is doing well in new situations as he can become anxious. When Dexter is worried, he will shy away so needs space to come around in his own time. Dexter can also jump quite high so will need new owners to have a fully secure garden with 6ft fencing. Dexter has previously lived with cats so could potentially live with cats in his new home. Dexter can live with children aged 14 years and over. He will make a loving companion once settled into his new home.

More about me

We will be taking applications for Dexter. The home chosen will be based on suitability. An interview will be conducted either by phone or video link with the potential owner. Applications will close on Monday 25th May at 4pm. Please be aware the applications may close early. Due to Dexter's individual needs and the current situation, we are unable to travel more than two hours from the centre.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Dexter, who is based at Bridgend (Wales). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog.

We are temporarily trialling a new ‘handover at home’ service. Instead of asking you to come to the centre to pick up your dog, we will come to you. This will only be suitable for a select number of dogs, as some of our residents require multiple meets with their new owners, and it would be better for them to stay with us until restrictions are lifted and they can spend a bit more time with you before going home.

We will, of course, be doing everything to ensure the safety of our staff, and adopters when we offer this service. You can find out more about this below.
