We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

We’re now matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can now meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment and this now applies to all of our rehoming centres in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Bertie is a 7 year old crossbreed. To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match. Bertie is a fun loving boy who loves to play, he is an expert at catch, has great control when playing football and is fantastic at finding the hidden teddy bear! Bertie enjoys going for walks especially if this involves a trip away in the car to the woods, hills or meadows. Bertie does not enjoy fuss and being petted and does need new owners who can understand and respect this.

Type of home needed

Bertie is looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home with owners who have had dogs before. Bertie can be worried by strangers and does need a gentle and slow introduction in getting to know new people. Bertie does not like other dogs and does need to walk in quiet dog free areas. He would love his own secure garden where he can spend time off his lead playing with his toys or relaxing with the people he loves.

More about me

Bertie came to the centre as a stray so we are unsure of his past, Bertie can take time to trust you and once you gain his trust he wants nothing more than to be your best friend. He is a quick learner and will try his very best to please you. Bertie will need his new owners to make several visits to the centre to build a trusting relationship with him.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Bertie, who is based at West Calder (Edinburgh). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. We can’t register interest for dogs who aren’t available for rehoming. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
