Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Jake loves the sofa and lounging around, but he does also have big bursts of energy so he really enjoys his walks as well.

Type of home needed

Jake is a beautiful loving boy, but he can be a little worried initially when meeting new people but with time and patience he soon comes out of his shell and greets you very enthusiastically. Jake loves his walks but can be come very vocal and reactive when he sees and meets other dogs, so he would need to wear a muzzle whilst on walks. Whilst in the house Jake does like to have his mad moments charging around the place, jumping on beds and Sofas but once he calms down he does like to find a spot on either a sofa or a comfy bed to lay down and snooze. Jake can be playful with toys and he does love a treat but sometimes a little to much and he can be uncomfortable with you trying to touch or move them. Jake would be looking for a rural home where there will not be to many visitors to the house, and nice big walking areas without to many other dogs for him to bump in too.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Jake, who is based at Shrewsbury (Shropshire). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
