Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

About Bilbo

2 to 5 Years

Bilbo is an incredibly sweet dog to be around and he has so much love to give. He can be strong on the lead and when he is excited he forgets all about his loose lead walking, but given time to settle into a home this would be something we would easily be able to help you manage with him. He has shown worries around men previously, but he has been making great progress with his introductions here at the centre so we feel he could now live with a man in the household. This would mean the adoption process will need to be much slower than with an all female household.

Type of home needed

Bilbo is 3 years old and can live with a maximum of 2 adults and no other pets, but once settled in his new home would like to find some canine friends to socialise with. He will need to wear his muzzle when out in public due to his reactivity towards unknown men. Once he has a relationship with you, he is very affectionate and would love nothing more than settling down in front of the tv with you. If you would like to know more about Bilbo, his carers would be more than happy to talk to you so please do enquire about him! He must have a secure garden with high fences and would like to have company for the majority of the day.

More about me

Bilbo needs time to get to know his new family before he can go home. Due to current restrictions we can't offer meetings at the rehoming centre at the moment but we can start the process remotely with Zoom. If you are interested in applying to adopt Bilbo click on the 'come and meet me button'. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Bilbo, who is based at Loughborough. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
