Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

Fern's two greatest loves in life are food and her doggy friends! She is great at socialising with other dogs and will need to share her new home with multiple other dogs to help build her confidence. Fern is exceptionally nervous around people so requires a patient, relaxed family who will take things at Fern's pace and understand that she is unlikely to ever enjoy a fuss. She does however love exploring and comes alive when out on a walk. This is the best way to build a relationshp with her but it might be some time before you can comfortably clip a lead onto her.

Type of home needed

8 year old Fern can live with adults only, must live with multiple dogs and could potentially live with a cat. Her new home must have a large, fully secure garden.

More about me

Fern needs time to get to know her new family before she can go home. Due to government guidelines we can't offer meetings at the rehoming centre at the moment but we can start the process remotely with Zoom. If you are interested in applying to adopt Fern, click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close when Fern has found a suitable match.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Fern, who is based at Loughborough. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
