Teddy is bubbly young lad who still has a lot to learn. Unfortunately he has quite a few anxieties about the world so will need very patient and understanding owners who will take things slowly with him while he settles in to his new life. He needs a little time to warm to you but once you've made the cut then he'll be your friend for life! He is very affectionate and forms a strong bond with his owners. He'll need to learn all his basic training, including house training, but he likes his treats so this will help keep him focussed.
Type of home needed
Teddy will do well in a peaceful home in a quiet area where he can fully relax and feel secure. A busy urban area will not be suitable as traffic noise may worry him. His owners must be within a 30-minute drive of the Leeds rehoming centre as multiple visits to his new home will be needed to help his transition. Although he can't live with young children, over 16's should be fine. He will need a secure garden so he has somewhere to explore off lead. This will also help with his house training. His owners will need to be with him 24/7 as he cannot currently be left alone. It will take time but if done very slowly we hope he could eventually spend very short periods on his own. He will need to continue his dog socializing as he has very little experience of this, which means he needs to be the only dog in his home for now.
More about me
All Teddy needs is a chance. With a lot of patience, gentle encouragement and in the right home he has lots of potential. Can you help him become the dog we know he can be?
During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our
rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful
staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now
able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs.
This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of
being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by
your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without
your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to
those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs
get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them
their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult
time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue
looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...
