We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

We’re now matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can now meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment and this now applies to all of our rehoming centres in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Astra is a strong, independent, young lady who enjoys training and playing games. She develops great bonds with her known handlers and now has a structured plan to help her meet new people too. Astra can be picky with other dogs and will want to be the only dog in the home. It is not always easy to convince Astra to do things that weren't on her agenda, but she is always willing to learn.

Type of home needed

Astra will need an adult only home, with no visiting children due to some of her behaviours. She will also need a home where she can have her own room and be kept separate from the kitchen as she will steal and keep hold of anything she finds. Astra will love to have her own garden and a family who are keen to continue her training and help her settle into a home. She is looking for a home who is up for a challenge, and in return she will give you endless entertainment.

More about me

IMPORTANT: Please detail your experience of dog ownership and training on your application. Focusing especially on your willingness to engage in future training. Failure to do so will mean we cannot consider your application. New owners will need to be prepared to make multiple visits to the centre to get to know Astra before she goes home. They will also need to be keen to partake in training plans and following advice on settling her in to a new home. The centre behaviour team will be on hand during these meets to talk through and demonstrate her training. To apply to rehome me, please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Astra, who is based at Harefield (West London). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. We can’t register interest for dogs who aren’t available for rehoming. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
