Haiti is a handsome boy who is looking for an owner with German Shepherd experience. He has so much potential but doesn't show off his amazing personality in kennels as he finds it quite overwhelming. He has proven to be a delight to have around in one of our experienced foster homes. He visited the home twice before going for his first full day out and settled down for a snooze very shortly after being left. We are confident he will be just as content in the right home. His new owners should be able to visit him a few times at the centre to build up a bond before he leaves.

Type of home needed

Having someone at home for most of the day will help him adjust to his new pad. He is housetrained, content sleeping most of the day and could be left for an hour or two. The time he is left alone should be built up gradually once he has found his feet. He will need to be the only pet in the home for now as he has not lived with cats and can be worried by other dogs. Due to this he will need to be kept on lead when in public so would benefit from a home with a garden. He resembles a giant puppy when he is running in the garden, throwing his toys in the air and doing zoomies! He would do best with older children of 16 years and older as we feel a quieter home allows him to really come out of his shell. He will need some ongoing training such as recall and further socialisation around dogs using positive, reward based methods.

More about me

Haiti will need direct access to his own garden with a 5ft fence to keep him safe while he streches his legs. A rural location with dog free areas to walk would be ideal and let him really relax and enjoy his adventures. Haiti prefers a hands off approach initially is a very affectionate dog once he gets to know you and is sure to make a super companion in the right home. Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Glasgow Rehoming Centre.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
