Type of home needed

Gorgeous Max is a really lovely boy who would make a fabulous addition to a German Shepherd loving home! He is a big, strong lad who although being 3 and a half years old, still needs a hand with some basic training such as loose lead walking as he can be a real tank on the lead at times! He is looking for physically robust owners who can handle him on lead, and experience in owning large breeds would be ideal. He loves to play, and tuggy games are one of his favourites, but he hasn't quite got the hang of fetch yet!

More about me

In true GSD style Max is not a massive fan of lots of cuddles but enjoys attention and to be told just how handsome he is. Max needs ongoing socialisation with other dogs in his new home as he is unsure how to act around them when he has met them out on his walks here at the centre. Regular meets with calm dogs who can show him the way would be ideal. Due to this, Max will need to be the only pet in the home, however he can live with teens over the age of 14 who are comfortable around large breeds. We aren't entirely sure how Max will travel in the car but we think he may find car travel a bit scary at first.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Basildon Rehoming Centre in Essex.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
