I am currently looking for my new family. To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Rehoming me starts here' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match. Please note if you rent your property, you must be able to provide written permission from your landlord to keep a dog. We will not be able to reserve any dog until we have received this. Sookie will need to meet her new family multiple times at the centre before going home. If you are shortlisted for this dog please be aware a meet will be arranged at the centre within 48 hours.

Type of home needed

Sookie is a sweet and fun girlie who has a sensitive side and can get overwhelmed easily. She is looking for a home in a quiet rural location with new adopters who are able to establish a daily routine with her once she gets home. Due to this Sookie will need a calm household without many visitors in order for her to work on growing in confidence. She is also looking for a home with quiet neighbours and ideally without neighbouring dogs. Sookie does enjoy exploring on her walks and once she knows you does have an affectionate side and enjoys a cuddle. Sookie would like someone at home all the time to work on building her leaving hours very slowly with her.

More about me

Sookie is looking for an adult only household with a maximum of 2 people and no visiting children. She would like her adopters to have experience with owning rescue dogs, ideally large breeds and will need to be willing to carry on her reward-based training that she has started at the centre. She is a vey clever girl and loves her training sessions! Sookie must be the only pet in the home and is looking for her own private, secure garden to zoom about in as she will need to be kept onlead in public. Sookie promises to make you smile and will be a rewarding rehome to the right family.

Thank you for your interest in rehoming a dog from our Basildon Rehoming Centre in Essex.

The first step to rehoming from us is to complete our online application form. We’ll review your application and if we think you could be a good match for the dog, we’ll give you a call to chat in more detail.

When reviewing applications, we're looking at how closely your lifestyle matches the needs of the dog. If we have lots of strong matches, then we'll start with the family that applied first.

We may arrange a virtual home check to find out more about you, your lifestyle, and the home you can offer. We may also make an appointment for you to come and meet a dog at the centre.

Start your online application now.

We aim to respond to all rehoming applications within five working days. If you have not heard from us within five working days, unfortunately you have been unsuccessful this time.
