Covid-19 update: our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing, but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with measures in place to keep staff and adopters safe. Find out more about how national Covid-19 restrictions are affecting our rehoming procedures and other activity.

Our rehoming centres aren’t open for public browsing but we’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with new processes in place to keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

For dogs we know will thrive straight away in their new home, we’re matching them with their new homes virtually and delivering them contact-free. Current restrictions mean we can only facilitate adoptions local to our centres and not across Countries or anywhere there are travel restrictions. We’re not able to make appointments for dogs to meet their family before going home, but we can register interest to arrange appointments when restrictions ease.

We’re currently experiencing an unprecedented amount of interest, with some dogs getting several hundred applications. Please bear with us, we’re doing everything we can to find our dogs their forever homes.

About Thomas

5 to 7 Years

Thomas is an extremely handsome boy with the most AMAZING ears! He is a shy boy who can find new faces and experiences unsettling. He loves his carers who have built a bond with him, and they see his cheeky, lively, playful side. He loves his toys and dashing about like a tornado. Thomas would love a sizeable secure garden so he has plenty of space to throw his toys about. He's an anxious boy when he sees other dogs, so his doggy socialisation will be ongoing in his new home.

Type of home needed

Thomas is looking for a quieter home(with minimal visitors and no children) and calm owners who can help him to settle in and find his feet. When out for his adventures Thomas will need to be on lead. He needs a massive confidence boost, so new owners need to help him blossom without putting him into situations which he may find too challenging. Once settled he's a lively boy who will require an active lifestyle. Thomas prefers to have company and time left alone needs to be built up gradually. At the moment he will need to be the only dog in a home. If you have time and are looking to help a shy dog blossom then please ask to speak to the training team at the centre about our beautiful Thomas. This sensitive boy will be a real sweetheart once you are his friend.

More about me

If you feel that you may be just the pal for Thomas then please contact the centre to have a chat with the training staff. Thomas is in a quieter part of the centre. Prospective owners will need to visit a few times to meet with Thomas to get to know him.To apply to rehome me please click on the 'Come and Meet Me' button below. Applications will close when I have found a suitable match.

In these unprecedented circumstances, we're doing everything we can to continue our vital work caring for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs. If you'd like to help, please make a donation. Your support means so much, now more than ever.

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Thomas, who is based at Darlington. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
