We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff, visitors and adopters safe.

We’re now matching dogs with their new homes virtually and delivering dogs contact-free. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can now meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment and this now applies to all of our rehoming centres in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Although he is 10 years old, Rafa is young at heart and is still an active collie who likes going on walks and playing with toys. He enjoys a gentle fuss from people he is familiar with, and when confident he will nudge you for more. Potential adopters should have experience of anxious dogs, as this sweet boy needs someone who can understand him. He can be a little worried when entering new environments, but when he's given space to explore, he can often settle himself. Rafa enjoys walking with other calm dogs, and is polite when greeting canine companions.

Type of home needed

Rafa is looking for a quiet female only household, as he is currently uncomfortable around men. He is a sweet boy who takes his time to build bonds with new people, therefore he will need adopters who can visit him multiple times at the centre. Rafa's new family will need to be at home with him for most of the time, as he doesn't enjoy being left alone. He cannot live with children under 18, dogs, cats or small animals. Rafa will need to live in a rural location, away from noise, and will need a decent-sized garden. Rafa already knows how to sit, paw and walk nicely on the lead- however he would benefit from a little extra training. But his love of snacks (especially cheese) will help with this, as he can learn through reward-based training.

More about me

If Rafa sounds like the pawfect addition to your family please get in touch and we will email you a homefinding questionnaire to complete and return to us. Also please be aware that we are dealing with many enquiries for the dogs as they become available and you will only hear back from us if we are able to proceed with your interest. All other application forms will be shredded to comply with the rules of GDPR. You will need an email address and we will conduct a home visit via video so you must be comfortable with the technology used. In keeping with current government guidelines we are unable to rehome to those that are vulnerable or self-isolating.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We are now able to start the search for new homes for a small number of our awesome dogs. This will really help us to support even more dogs who are most at risk of being put to sleep as a result of this crisis. We have been overwhelmed by your offers of support, and we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your help. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked, looked after and, as soon as we are able, finding them their forever home. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Rafa, who is based at Snetterton (Norfolk). Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. If you think you could be a good match give us a call on the number below

Our rehoming process is a bit different at the moment! We’re now matching dogs with their new families virtually and delivering dogs to their new homes, with social distancing measures in place to help keep staff and adopters safe. For dogs who need more time to get to know their new family, you can come and meet them at our rehoming centres by appointment. We can’t register interest for dogs who aren’t available for rehoming. More info about how our new rehoming process works below.

When you rehome a dog, we’ll give you your welcome bag, which includes a new collar and lead, and our dog care handbook with microchip and insurance details. Plus, to help your new addition settle in we’ll give you a 2kg bag of Wainwright’s dry dog food, courtesy of the Pets at Home VIP Club, unless they have been fed on a different food for dietary or veterinary reasons.
