Are you right for Jake?

Jake needs and understanding home where any children are over the age of 14. He needs to live with another dog but can live with cats also. His adopters will need to be willing to meet him multiple times at the centre before taking him home on a trial basis initially. Jake cannot live by a busy road and will need a secure garden where he can be supervised.

Is Jake right for you?

Jake is a special boy looking for a hero to adopt him. He is seven years old and has spent almost all of his life living in a small cage in Romania, having never been walked, touched or shown any love there. He's currently in a very experienced foster home with multiple dogs and also a cat, and making great progress. Understandably, Jake takes a while to get to know someone and build any kind of bond but being around other dogs is helping, so we are searching for a home that has another dog or two already. His world has suddenly increased by so much and it's a lot for him to deal with, so he mustn't be rushed into anything as this will only set him back. He is only just allowing his foster carer to touch him but seems to understand that it's a nice thing, he just needs time to get used to it. He's even started to wag his tail when he sees her first thing in the morning! There is a chance that poor Jake will always be fearful after such a terrible life, and his family will need to be dedicated to getting to know him at the centre, and it's not going to be a case of three or four meetings before taking him home. His foster carer will be happy to spend time with potential adopters and Jake, talking through his needs. Jake really desrves to spend the second half of his life being loved in comfort after such a poor seven years of solitary confinement, but he's going to need patience, kindness and dedication from his new family.
