Are you right for Stanlee?

Looking for a companion with a bit of character, a lot of charm, and just the right amount of cheek? Meet Stanlee – a 10-year-old West Highland Terrier who is as distinguished as he is delightful. Stanlee is seeking a quiet and understanding adult-only home, or one with older children aged 16+ who can appreciate his chatty ways. He must be the only pet in the home but can have walking buddies out and about. Stanlee would prefer a private garden to potter in and would not suit an open-plan home, as he enjoys his peace and routine. He can be left for short periods, but as a true people-dog, he would love an owner who is around most of the day. He would thrive in a home that enjoys training and is ready to engage with him both mentally and physically.

Is Stanlee right for you?

Stanlee is a loving and expressive boy who wears his heart on his fluffy sleeve. He is housetrained, will stand at the door when he needs to go out, and is happy to settle with his beloved monkey toy when he is not following you around for fuss. He walks beautifully on lead, travels well in the car (though he will need a lift in), and is generally friendly with everyone he meets. He is not so keen on motorways or big lorries but is otherwise fine on the road. This clever little chap enjoys puzzle toys to slow down his enthusiastic eating, and he takes treats with lovely gentle manners. He will happily find a tennis ball on a walk and proudly carry it about, even though he is not one for fetch. Stanlee is used to being groomed, has handled vet visits like a pro, and is a firm favourite with those who know him. He may be older, but he still enjoys playtime and company, although he does not like thunder or fireworks. With his unique blend of sensitivity, silliness, and charm, Stanlee is more than ready to share his golden years with someone who truly appreciates the joy of a slightly quirky, very devoted dog. This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.
