Are you right for Dexter?

Dexter is a sweet eight-year-old Patterdale who came into our care after his previous owner sadly passed away. To make sure he didn't miss out on any TLC or home comforts, he’s been staying in a loving foster home since his arrival. His foster carers say he’s been a joy to have around and has proven himself to be a wonderful houseguest. Dexter is the kind of dog who thrives on companionship and would love to find a family who can be around most of the time, as he doesn’t enjoy being left alone for long hours. While he should settle into a new routine fairly quickly, Dexter is used to a calm and peaceful environment. As a ‘mature’ gentleman, he’d be best suited to a home with secondary school-aged children or older—kids who can be calm and respectful of his space when he needs to relax. Sociable with other dogs, Dexter could potentially live with a well-matched canine companion of a similar calm temperament, pending successful introductions at our rehoming centre. That said, he’s also perfectly content as the only pet. He’s had experience living both with other dogs and on his own. Due to a strong prey drive, Dexter is not suitable to live with cats, birds, or small furry animals.

Is Dexter right for you?

Dexter is a gentle soul with lots of love to give. He absolutely adores spending time with his human friends and will make a loyal, affectionate companion. He enjoys snuggling on the sofa, following you around to see what you're up to, and is used to sleeping in the bedroom (in his own bed) at night. While he's entering his senior years, Dexter is still sprightly and full of life—he loves a good game of fetch and is always up for an adventure.
