Volunteers celebrate giving 1,821 days to help our dogs!
On August 16th, Dogs Trust Merseyside held their annual Volunteer Presentation Evening. Our wonderful army of volunteers has this year given 14,568 hours of their own time to help us care for our dogs - this is equal to 1,821 full working days, over 5 years in total!
Our Home From Home foster carers have helped find homes for 60 dogs this past year alone, by taking in pooches that are too young, old, poorly or ill equipped to cope with kennel life.
Volunteer Co-ordinator Clare Lybert said “Volunteers are a vital part of our team, without them we couldn’t achieve the high standard of care that we pride ourselves on”.
All Volunteers are presented with certificates for milestone achievements, staring at 100 hours, but this year we had three big awards to present! Emma Gaskell, along with husband and wife team Dave and Linda Wells, all received their 10 year service awards. Clare said of them “They are amazing people who have been members of our team for what feels like forever, and have been integral in rehoming some of our longer term residents. By taking the dogs for long off site walks and keeping them a part of the outside world, they make their transition in to home life that much easier.”
