Happy Mother’s Day from our Chihuahua litter!

Staff at Merseyside take on unexpected parenting duties!

Right at the end of January, seven two-day old Chihuahuas urgently needed help. They were without their mother and needed caring for and feeding for the next eight weeks! Two members of staff at Dogs Trust Merseyside quickly stepped up and offered to become temporary parents to these tiny puppies, knowing it would mean sleepless nights and a lot of hard work.

The pups were such little fighters that we named them after The Avengers: Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Hulk, Nebula, Wanda and Gamora! Canine carers Freya McVey and Emma Griffith took three and four pups respectively and spent the next 62 days (and nights!) feeding, cleaning, socialising and nurturing the pups, along with help from volunteer puppy rearer, Linda Wells. Freya even took her three on a holiday she had planned!

We’re so proud to say the puppies have flourished under the care of Freya and Emma and will be heading home to their new families just in time for Mother’s Day.

So, to all the unlikely mothers out there, we thank you!
