These vets were made for walking!
The team at Denton’s Vets4Pets are calling on dog lovers and their pooches to join their Waggy Walk this weekend and help raise hundreds of pounds for homeless hounds at Dogs Trust Manchester.
The team are organising 3k and 5k walks as part of the rehoming centre’s Summer Fun Day at Heaton Park this Sunday (26 July) and they are hoping Denton dog-owners will take part.
“Dogs Trust Manchester does a fantastic job and we’ve worked closely with them in recent months so we just wanted to do our bit to help them continue their amazing work,” says Stef Bent, receptionist at Vets4Pets.
“The walks will take people around Heaton Park which is a beautiful park – it’s the biggest in Manchester and Europe’s largest municipal park so a great place to exercise dogs! Whether you’ve been there before or not, we’d urge you to come along and raise money for a great cause, and have fun doing it!”
The event will also include fun competitions for dog-owners to take part in with their talented pooches including Friendliest Pup, Waggiest Tail, The Most Golden Oldie, Best Young Handler and Best Rescue Dog. Plus there will be Have-A-Go Agility, a Doggy Dash, free microchipping, children’s games and craft activities, a raffle and tombola. There will also be a BBQ and more than 30 stalls selling everything from homemade gifts to perfect presents for pets.
Lucy Marsh, Dogs Trust Manchester’s Supporter Relations Officer, said:
“Heaton Park is a great place for us to be able to hold our first ever Fun Day! It’s only about 15 minutes away, just off Junction 19 of the M60, so we’re really hoping that our local supporters come along and enjoy a day out with us.”
The Fun Day is this Sunday, 11am-4pm, and entry is £3. Children aged 12 and under go free as do Waggy Walk entrants. The sponsored walk is £5 for one dog, £8 for two and £10 for three or more dogs.
To register for the sponsored walk in advance please call Lucy on 0161 337 3605, pop into Denton Vets4Pets on Stockport Road or you can enter on the day.
