Dogs Trust Manchester find forever home for first dog of the year
The new year is off to a waggy start at Dogs Trust Manchester as it celebrates rehoming its first dog of 2019.
Eight-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Maggie, arrived at the rehoming centre just two days before Christmas and is now heading home with her new forever family, Sheryl Powell and Samantha Ginder.
Sheryl and Samantha visited the rehoming centre looking for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and there was no looking back once they spotted Maggie.
“Maggie is beautiful and perfect for us. We decided we wanted to give an older Staffordshire Bull Terrier a forever home as we looked after my brother’s wonderful Staffie, Lilly, when he sadly passed away. She died in 2017 at the incredible age of 17 and we adored her, so we knew what we were looking for when the time was right, and that’s now.
“Incredibly Maggie was here waiting and we are so excited that she is coming home with us.”
Last year Dogs Trust Manchester found homes for 849 dogs and at any one time the staff look after around 90 dogs of all shapes and sizes, waiting to find their special someone.
Carol Margieson, Dogs Trust Manchester Deputy Manager, said:
“We are really pleased that Maggie has found her forever home so soon. It has got the new year off to a great start and we know she’ll be very happy with Sheryl and Samantha.
“We have lots of other pooches looking for a loving new owner to make 2019 a year to remember. We’d urge anyone wanting to welcome a dog into their life this year to pay us a visit and give a rescue dog a second chance.”
