Will Rocky be ‘rocking around the Christmas tree’ in his Furever Home?

Rocky is full of beans and loves life! He is a young Staffordshire bull terrier who is currently residing at Dogs Trust Glasgow where he is waiting on his special someone to walk through the door and offer him his forever home, hopefully in time to enjoy the festive season with his new family. He has been with us for a few months now and although he copes well with kennel life, we would love nothing more than for him to find somewhere to enjoy his home comforts again.

Rocky is a strong boy who has lots of energy so we are looking for an owner that is strong enough to walk him on lead and will enjoy taking him out for regular long walks to expend some of that energy! It is not all about tiring him out physically though, he loves games that get his brain working like puzzle games, Kong toys and he enjoys the enrichment that we offer our dogs like destruction boxes where he gets to snoop around in shredded paper to find the treats, finding the hidden treasure!

Rocky would prefer to be the only pet in the home so he can lap up all the attention! He can get very boisterous so he cannot live with another dog or cat.

We are looking for a committed home that will give Rocky the time and space he needs to settle in well. He likes to have his own space when enjoying treats and food so it would be best if he had a quiet area where he could relax and have some time to himself. Due to this we are looking for a home with older children over the age of 16 years who will also respect his need for space.

After a nice big walk, relaxing for a few hours on his own is not a problem for Rocky, he will keep himself amused with toys and chews and is housetrained. Be prepared for a warm welcome on your return as he does like to give cuddles and kisses once he has a bond with you.

Rocky sometimes does not realise his strength and can get quite over the top when playing so we are looking for a home that will encourage calm playing and not get him frustrated with games that get him too excited! Having experience with bull breeds would be beneficial.

Rocky’s history is not known as he was found wandering in the streets but he did live in a home for a short period of time. In this time, it was noted that he can be worried by new people coming to his garden or home. We are looking for a home with few visitors and owners that are sensible about introducing him properly to new people.

New owners will have the support of our training and behaviour team who can assist with getting Rocky settled in and being part of the family. He would love to meet his new owners a few times to start building a relationship before he goes to his new home.
