Dogs Trust

UPDATE: Our rehoming centres are closed until further notice, however we are now able to rehome a small number of our amazing dogs. Each dog’s profile will let you know if they are looking for a new home. For the time-being, we are unable to register your interest for dogs who are not yet available for rehoming.

Top Ten Leggies Looking for Loving Homes

Dogs Trust Basildon is currently looking for fur-ever homes for not one, not two (three, four, five, six, seven, eight or nine) but TEN lovely leggy lurchers and greyhounds!

Dogs Trust often has a lot of lurchers and greyhounds looking for new homes at the same time. This is most likely due to the common misconception that they need significantly more exercise than other breeds.

In fact, Lurchers and Greyhounds often zoom about in a short burst of energy but then love to spend the rest of the day lounging on a comfy sofa, earning them the nickname of the 45mph couch potato. Meet Dogs Trust Basildon’s ‘top ten’ lovely leggies who are hoping they won’t be ‘left in the lurch’ for much longer…

Five-year-old Beautiful Bet has a real zest for life and loves people and other dogs. Once she gets to know you, she enjoys a fuss and cuddle she is a friendly girl who has an affectionate side she would love to share with a new family.

Two-year-old Dazzling Dash is looking for his new forever home with a family who has had experience of worried dogs as he can take a while to come out of his shell but is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion.

Four-year-old Duchess has a lot of love to offer her new family. Her confidence improves with another dog around so she is looking for a new home she can share with a calm yet confident canine companion.

Seven-year-old Evie is the sweetest girl in the world. She loves being around people and having a head scratch and fuss. She is a chilled-out lady looking for a cosy blanket next to a caring new family.

Lovely Finn is a very handsome 1-year-old lurcher who has come to us with very little history. He has proved to be a friendly boy to all his new friends here at the centre.

Two-year-old sensitive and loyal our handsome boy Greg is ready for his forever home. He loves long walks in the countryside and will need a garden where he can play with toys and enjoy some one on one time with his new adopters.

Fun, Friendly and Sprightly is our long-legged ex-racer Moose. He is looking for a retirement home where he can have a cosy spot in the sun for his afternoon snooze. Moose has a zest for life, enjoys his walks and would love a garden for some well-known Greyhound zoomies.

Fan of greyhounds? Four-year-old Pat may be the one for you! He loves to go out for walks with his doggy pals and has lots of friends here at the centre. Pat can be shy meeting new people however he enjoys a fuss once he gets to know you. He would adore a comfy place to snooze after a nice walk.

One-year-old Sam is looking for an understanding home with a quiet family. He loves to play with his favourite toys and could play fetch all day. Sam would adore new owners that are able to continue with his training including his doggie social skills and getting him used to the car.

Eight-year-old Super Ska is the perfect blend of lively and lazy. He enjoys playing with toys and will need a secure, private garden where he can have a zoom about when the mood strikes.
