The rescue dog with love in her eyes

One of Dogs Trust Darlington’s current residents literally has love in her eyes and she has the markings to prove it; in the shape of a love heart around her right eye. Lilly is a gorgeous eight-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is hoping her unique features and personality will win her a place in the heart of a new family this Valentine’s Day.

Canine Carers at the Sadberge Rehoming Centre believe Lilly’s eye marking will split opinions amongst the public at first, very much like ‘The Dress’, a photograph taken in 2015 which created an online frenzy when people were asked to guess what colour the outfit was; with many getting the answer wrong due to an optical illusion in the photograph. The longer you look at Lilly’s eyes, the more apparent the love heart becomes; and hopefully the more likely you will be to fall in love with her.

Jake Flatman, Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Darlington, said:

“Lilly is an amazing dog with lots of character and we really hope she finds her true love soon. She has been at the rehoming centre for a few months and we don’t want her to become overlooked by potential owners, especially as we approach Valentine’s Day – a day dedicated to love.

“She absolutely adores human companionship and is house-trained too. Lilly gets on well with children over the age of 11 as she has lots of energy, but would prefer to be the only pet in the home.”
