Rescue hound Baskerville, available to spooftacular home this Halloween

Dogs Trust’s Rehoming Centre in Darlington is currently on the lookout for potential owners to adopt a rescue hound, ideally before the next full moon. Baskerville, the 666-year-old hound has been at the Sadberge Rehoming Centre ever since its doors first opened more than 25 years ago, with many believing he had already claimed ownership of the land long before this.

Baskerville is a real character at the rehoming centre and is distinguishable by his shiny black coat and love of standing on hilltops “conversing” with the moon. He is very affectionate towards humans, however does like his own space too; and will quietly retreat into a cloud of mist when he wants some time alone.

This adorable pooch absolutely loves playtime and hide-and-seek is his favourite game. He hasn’t quiet mastered the hang of it yet though, as his bright yellow eyes can often be seen for miles around, even at night, in dense woodland.

Sue Embleton, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Darlington, said:

“We can’t put into words how fond we all are of Baskerville, although we would definitely say his hold over us would be described as otherworldly.

“Baskerville has lots of energy and is a big fan of late-night walks of at least 13 miles, mostly on the moors! If only he did daytime hikes, he could probably complete the Lykewake Walk as he is so fit. Once in his new home, he will happily laze the day away on his red velvet day bed, which we will pass this on to his new owner.

“He absolutely loves meal times and is not a fussy eater in the slightest, however we would advise avoiding anything with garlic or “stakes”.

“Owning a dog can be challenging but it is also one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. If you are game for a challenge this Halloween, please call us soon and we will be ‘over the moon’ to get him to you by October 31st.”
