I get by woof a little help from my friend
Dogs Trust Canterbury is appealing for a home for a devoted doggie duo who are hoping for a second chance at happiness after their lifelong owner sadly passed away.
Eleven-year-old Jack Russell Terriers Molly and Jessie arrived at Dogs Trust as part of the Canine Care Card Scheme - a special free service that aims to give owners peace of mind, knowing that the charity will look after their dog if the worst should happen.
Thankfully, Dogs Trust never puts a healthy dog to sleep and the wonderful staff at Dogs Trust Canterbury will care for the pair for as long as it takes to find them a forever home. The adorable golden oldies are currently enjoying some home comforts in a foster home but hope it won’t be too long before they are settling in to life with a new family.
Lara Murphy, Dogs Trust Canterbury Supporter Relations officer says,
“Some dog owners worry what might happen to their dog if they were to pass away first, leaving their beloved four-legged friend without an owner. Thanks to Dogs Trust’s Canine Care Card scheme, dogs in need of a new home are given a lifeline meaning that Molly, Jessie and many dogs like them are able to get a second chance at happiness and bring joy to a new family.”
“Molly and Jessie are the very best of friends who have lived together all their lives so we would love to find them a new home together. Despite what they’ve been through, they settled in really quickly and are as happy as can be, just as long as they have each other! You really can’t tell that they are in their twilight years as they adore running about after a tennis ball and having a cuddle with their human best friends. Molly and Jessie can live with children aged 14 or over and can potentially live with another dog of a similar size. They really will make wonderful companions so if you think you could give these best friends a loving new home, please get in touch.”
If you decide to become a Canine Care Card holder, we will issue you with a wallet-sized card. It acts in a similar way to an organ donor card and notifies people of your wishes for your dogs, should anything happen to you. Dogs Trust also strongly recommends that you mention the care of your dog in your Will. That way, there can be no confusion about your wishes.
If you think you can give Molly and Jessie a loving home or are interested in heaing more about the Canine Care Card please call 0300 303 0292.
