Are you right for Josie?

Josie is a sweet, yet sensitive Australian Terrier cross who was found as a stray before she entered our care. Aged around three-years-old, we have limited information on Josie’s background, but she has been living in a temporary foster home with some of our dedicated foster carers, who have been helping us discover the type of home that she would thrive in. Josie is looking for a quiet, peaceful place to call her own, with a patient adult-only family who could allow her the time she needs to settle in. She seems to thrive off human company and will look to her carers for guidance in moments of uncertainty— such as meeting new people or other dogs. However, she has already shown lots of progress and keeping things simple and familiar has been key to helping her confidence grow. Now that she’s feeling more at ease, Josie has been enjoying meeting other friendly dogs on her walks and could possibly live with a well-suited canine companion but is unsuitable to live with cats. A garden of her own would be preferred but we are happy to consider homes without, if her adopters could take her for frequent outings.

Is Josie right for you?

Josie arrived as a nervous little thing, quickly attaching herself to anyone who showed her kindness. She would crawl onto laps for comfort, often displaying appeasing behaviours and seeming to be unsure of how to act. While she is fond of fuss and affection, it is important to allow her breaks in between fusses. Nonetheless, Josie does enjoy spending time by your side— whether that’s while engaging with you over a game of fetch with a soft squeaky toy, participating in fun training, or snuggling up on the sofa with you. Despite her timid character, Josie has begun to show off her playful side and often has bursts of energy, excitedly zooming around the house! Ultimately, she is bound to make for loving companion to a gentle, understanding family who can provide her with the love and support that she deserves. Please note: Josie came into our care with a docked tail. Tail docking is illegal in the UK, except for essential medical reasons or for certain breeds of working dogs. We are against unnecessary tail docking and do not condone it.
