Our charity shop in Chorleywood raises an incredible landmark figure with the help of some barking mad donations
Our charity shop in Chorleywood is delighted to have hit the amazing figure of £250,000 this month. The shop first opened in June 2014 and since then has raised this incredible amount for dogs in need.
The shop has had a huge range of ‘barking’ mad donations, with some of the strangest including a Formula One tyre used by Nigel Mansell, a dominatrix outfit, bed pans and even some ukuleles!
Chorleywood’s shop manager Nick Jenner said:
“It’s fair to say we have had some really strange donations into the shop but we really appreciate that people think of us - despite how unusual the items may be! Since opening in 2014 we have really become part of the community and attended many local events that have raised over £17, 000 all on their own. Chorleywood really has welcomed us with open arms.”
When asked about some highlights of his time at the shop, Nick said:
“Martin Kemp and his wife Shirley have visited us to donate items to the shop before – and that definitely makes the top ten!”
Nick and assistant manager Lynne run the shop, along with a fantastic team of eight volunteers. Nick and Lynne both added: “Without these wonderful volunteers, we would not have been able to reach this astonishing figure.”
If you would like to visit the Chorleywood Dogs Trust charity shop at Shire Lane, Chorleywood, Rickmansworth, WD3 5RB they are open Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5pm.
