Dog breeding and selling
We’re urging policymakers to strengthen the system of registration and licensing for dog breeders and sellers. This should help tackle the problem of irresponsible operators.
We believe that anyone breeding, selling or transferring the ownership of a puppy (a dog up to six months old), should have to be registered. This should be the case whether or not they make money from these activities.
If the person is breeding, selling or transferring the ownership of more than one litter of puppies then they should be required to hold a licence. Any advertising should carry their unique registration or licence number.
