Are you right for Dougie?

Dougie is a sweet and sensitive 1 1/2 year old Terrier Cross who is looking for his forever home with a calm and patient family to help him find his confidence. He prefers a quiet environment with minimal leaving hours, as he is not used to being left alone. If needed, time left alone could be built up gradually once he feels at home. Dougie would benefit from living with another dog to help show him the ropes but this is not essential. He could potentially live with sensible children aged 12+. As Dougie is naturally cautious, he will need a family who is happy to let him settle in at his own pace. He can be very avoidant of new people and environments at first, but with patience and kindness, he slowly begins to trust. He will need a quiet home, free from loud noises and fast movements, where he can feel safe and supported.

Is Dougie right for you?

If you are looking for a rewarding companion who will form a deep bond with you over time, Dougie could be the one! While he is nervous at first, once he gets to know you, he becomes a loving and affectionate boy who enjoys a gentle fuss. He is still learning about the world, so he will need patient guidance to help him with basic training and confidence. He is currently in a lovely foster home that has started already seeing massive progress with Dougie's confidence. Dougie enjoys long lasting chews but has shown little interest in toys so far. He is starting to get used to travelling in the car, but new owners would need to continue this as he can get a bit vocal at times. He will need gentle habituation to ensure he feels comfortable travelling. Grooming and handling are best done slowly and with plenty of breaks, once settled, he will allow careful brushing with minimal restraint. If you can offer this lovely boy the time, patience, and understanding he needs, he will blossom into a wonderful and devoted companion. Could you be the one to help Dougie feel safe and loved? Dougie is undergoing surgery to have one eye removed due to a medical condition, he does however have good vision in his other eye. He will require ongoing eye drops for his other eye. We are more than happy to discuss with you further.
