Are you right for Molly?

If you are looking for a loyal and sensitive companion who will thrive with a calm lifestyle and a little extra patience, then lovely Labrador Molly might be the one for you. At a year and a half old, she is still learning about the world and needs a home where she can feel safe, supported, and never rushed. Molly is a country girl at heart and will need a secure garden, as she is used to farm life and would struggle in a home without outdoor space. She would suit a quiet household with minimal visitors and kind-hearted adults who will give her the space and time she needs to build confidence—particularly around new people. She could share her home with another friendly dog, as she enjoys canine company and has shown some lovely interactions with other dogs here, including playful and gentle moments. Molly has not lived with children before, but she has had calm young visitors from age six; she could live with older teens (12+) who can understand that she may need time to come out of her shell. Molly will need to be kept on lead in public while she builds confidence, and is being muzzle trained as a precaution, especially for vet visits. She must not be expected to greet visitors at the door—this is one of her clear ‘non-negotiables’.

Is Molly right for you?

Molly is a real sweetheart once she knows you. She is clever, housetrained, and already knows a few basic cues. Fetch is her absolute favourite game—she plays beautifully and brings the ball back every time! She is a foody girl and very treat motivated, which is handy as she can be a bit cheeky raiding treat pouches if you are not paying attention! In new environments, Molly can be a little unsure at first but is naturally curious—she will need steady introductions to new places at her own pace. She travels well, crated in the boot and is relaxed around traffic. For short periods she is comfortable being left alone at home in her crate with the radio on, though this will need building up gradually once she is settled in her new home. While Molly can be vocal in kennels, especially when people or unfamiliar dogs pass by, she settles much better when out on walks with someone she trusts. She has shown great progress when introduced to new people alongside a familiar handler. With time and patience, her confidence is growing, and she has even managed a full vet exam recently with plenty of support, snacks, and gentle handling. She has previously lived with loose chickens and sheep without issue and was even playful and relaxed around livestock and cats. While grooming is not her favourite thing, she is much happier turning it into a game and running off with the brush. Molly will thrive with gentle guidance, moderate exercise, and lots of mental enrichment. She truly blossoms with people who understand her and are willing to go at her pace. Once she trusts you, she will offer her playful, loving side, and you will have a wonderful companion for life.
