Are you right for Squeak?

Squeak is an adorable 3-year-old Pug with a quirky mix of sweetness and sass, who is on the lookout for a very special home. She must live with another friendly small-to-medium dog who can show her the ropes and help her grow in confidence. A private, secure garden is essential, and to begin with she should wear a longline when exploring, as she can be a bit of a flight risk. Squeak is not the kind of dog who enjoys being picked up or cuddled, so she is best suited to a calm household with children aged 16+. In some cases younger, dog-savvy children may be considered, as long as they understand and respect her need for space. She is not used to being left, so her alone time will need to be built up slowly once she feels settled. Squeak will need adopters who are comfortable being hands-off at first, giving her time to approach when she is ready. Several visits to the centre will be needed to build a bond with her before she goes home.

Is Squeak right for you?

Squeak may be shy about close handling, but she has bundles of personality that shine through once she feels safe. She is always happy to see her favourite handlers, greeting them with a waggy tail and full-body wiggles. She is currently in foster, building a relationship with her foster carer and enjoying human interaction including being stroked. With patience and love, she will start to show her affectionate, cheeky side. She loves her food and takes treats gently, which will be a great help in her training. She enjoys the company of other dogs, is curious when exploring new areas, and occasionally shows some interest in toys. While she is not a big traveller and will need help getting into the car, she is quiet once settled in her crate. She is almost there with her housetraining - just needing some gentle support from her new owners. In the right home – one that understands her need for space, time, and gentle encouragement – Squeak will blossom into a wonderful companion with plenty of character to share.
