Are you right for Axel?

Axel is a big and beautiful 5 year old Weimaraner who is ready to find his forever home. He's been in a home for all of his life where he is housetrained and has been getting used to spending short periods home alone. As he settles into his forever home, we recommend that this time is gradually built up as he starts to feel more comfortable. Axel can be a worried lad and would do best in a quieter home with children 16+ who are calm and can respect his need for space at times. It's important his new family can learn to read his body language and help him blossom in confidence. Axel loves to play fetch and spending time playing with his toys. He would do best with a garden of his own where he can explore, play and zoom without any worries. Axel has been used to travelling and enjoys playing at secure fields where he can run without any worries! He can find unfamiliar dogs a bit scary, so is looking for a home as the only pet with adopters who can help him work on his socialisation.

Is Axel right for you?

Axel is a wonderful boy, who with time and patience will blossom in a loving and affectionate companion. He's an active lad and would thrive with adopters who would love a friend to share lots of adventures with! This dog is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.
