Are you right for Lulu?

If you are full of beans and love a busy, bouncy companion, then Lulu might just be your perfect match. This four-year-old Cocker Spaniel is a clever, energetic girl who thrives on both mental and physical stimulation. She is a delight to train, thanks to her love of toys and obsession with treats — she will do just about anything for a snack or a tennis ball! Lulu must be the only dog in the home, though she can enjoy polite doggy pals when out and about. She is also best suited to a home with no other pets, as she has a high prey drive and is likely to chase. A private garden is essential to give her space to burn off steam and play safely. She could live with children aged 11 and over, though there is potential to consider younger visiting children — Lulu has previously lived with very small children and was friendly, but she can become protective of toys and may try to pinch snacks if little ones are around.

Is Lulu right for you?

Lulu’s ideal home will be one where her enthusiasm for life is matched by her people. She would love an active household where her humans enjoy training, playtime, and plenty of time outdoors. She already knows her basic cues, is housetrained, travels well, and has a lovely recall — she just needs a family who will enjoy building on that and keep her brain busy. Once settled, Lulu can be left for a couple of hours and is friendly with visitors. She is happy being handled, including for vet-style checks and grooming, although she can be a bit sensitive around her back legs when being clipped or towel-dried. Lulu is a super social girl who was instantly tactile and affectionate from the moment we met her. She will make a brilliant, entertaining companion for someone who understands Spaniels and is ready to keep up with her zest for life. This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.
