Are you right for Freya?

Freya is a beautiful 2-year-old Saluki cross Greyhound with a gentle soul and so much love to give. She can be very shy when meeting new people and will be looking for adopters who can offer her the patience, understanding and reassurance she needs to blossom. She will need time to develop a bond with her new family. Freya is searching for a calm and quiet home where she can settle at her own pace. She can live with children aged 14 years plus. As she has a history of chasing cats and birds, she will need a home without small furries. We have no history of her around livestock. Freya could potentially live with another calm and confident dog who can help show her the ropes. She would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home and would benefit from having friendly canine companions to enjoy walks and social outings with. As with many dogs settling into a new environment, Freya will need support with building up time left alone and a refresher on her housetraining. She can be strong on lead at times. She travels well in the car and would love to join her new family on adventures once she has settled in. To help her feel secure, Freya is looking for a home with minimal visitors initially while she adjusts to her new surroundings.

Is Freya right for you?

Give Freya the time she needs, and you’ll have an incredibly rewarding companion. Once she has formed a bond, her affectionate side shines through and she absolutely loves a cuddle with her favourite people. She greets those she knows with excitement and enthusiasm and builds wonderfully strong relationships with the people she trusts. Freya enjoys spending time with other dogs when out and about and loves both playtime and exploring on her walks. She already knows "sit" and is currently learning "stay", showing how eager she is to learn. The quickest way to Freya's heart is through her favourite treats, cheese and sausage are guaranteed winners! While she may choose to observe visitors from a safe distance at first, Freya's confidence grows with patience and kindness, and she soon begins to show her sweet and excitable personality. She loves chasing toys, zooming around outside and taking in all the exciting smells on her walks. When the adventures are over, Freya is a true couch potato at heart. One of her favourite places to be is curled up on the sofa, snoozing peacefully in a patch of sunshine. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion and are happy to let a friendship develop at Freya's pace, she could be the perfect addition to your family.

How our rehoming process works

  1. 1

Create an account and fill out our application form

In our form you can tell us all about your home, your lifestyle and the kind of dogs you’re interested in. You won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can add favourites to give us an idea of the dogs you like. We’ll use this information to find a great match for you.

  2. 2

    Choose a rehoming centre

We’ll also ask you to select a rehoming centre. The team at this centre will look after your application and assess you against all suitable dogs in their care. This doesn’t have to be your nearest centre, but you will need to travel there within a few days once we’ve found you...

    We’ll review your application

We’ll review your application against the dogs in our care at your chosen centre. If we think we have the right dog for you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If we don’t hear back from you, we will close your application for now, and you can reapply when you’re ready.

We’ll keep your application open for three months and keep looking for a match

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

  6. 6

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.

  7. 7

We’ll support you to embark on a new life with your dog
