Are you right for Mara?

Mara is a stunning 2yr old German Shepherd Crossbreed who has led a very sheltered life. Sadly she has spent most of her short life in kennels and this has left her very worried by the outside world. She has come a long way during her time with us through training and she is now ready to find a very special forever home. She will be a real project for her adopters and will need dedication and resilience to properly settle her in, but our team will be with you every step of the way to help her succeed. Add Mara to your favourites if you have a real interest in working with dogs with behavioural needs and have plenty of time to continue her training. She'll need a lot of time, patience and consistency, but we believe she has it in her to be a wonderful companion.

Is Mara right for you?

Mara is a very sweet, playful and affectionate dog underneath her anxieties. She will always be worried by people she doesn't know, but we have a developed a great introduction plan that helps her build trust. Once you are in her inner circle you will see the adorable girl we see. She's very smart and loves her training. Playing with toys is another one of her favourite hobbies. She really enjoys getting out about on her walks, but must be walked in quiet areas where she won't see lots of people or dogs up close. She travels well so won't mind being driven to quieter places. Due to her needing a calm, predictable and peaceful environment, her home must be adult only with no other pets and she'll need her own secure garden so she has somewhere to burn off energy off-lead. Mara is on medication for her anxieties but please don't be put off by this. Dogs Trust may be able to support some of the ongoing cost and our Vet will discuss in more detail.
