COVID-19: Please note that all our rehoming centres are closed until further notice

In line with Government guidelines, our Contact Centre team are working remotely and securely, and are back to running a normal service. If you need any advice or support, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Our centres are closed to walk-in members of the public and as of now, we will not be starting the rehoming process for any new adopters. If you are due to take a dog home in the next few days, we will contact you as soon as we can, please bear with us. Anyone who is due to have a rehoming appointment, unfortunately these have been suspended until further notice. Due to Government restrictions, we will be unable to take in dogs to our rehoming centres right now.

If you need urgent help regarding giving up your dog, please contact us immediately and we will offer you as much advice and support as we can. We’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs, while avoiding any close interaction with each other.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked and looked after. We’d like to say a big thank to you, for your continued support.

About Benji

Centre:
Breed:
Patterdale Terrier
Age:
2 to 5 Years
Sex:
Male

Likes

Benji is a typical terrier who is full of beans. As he is energetic and full of character he is looking for someone just as active to keep up with him. He needs plenty of mental stimulation and he loves treats so will work hard to please his owner for a reward. We are looking for an experienced home for him.

Type of home needed

Benji can be worried by other dogs so we are looking for a home where there are quiet areas to walk without too many other dogs around. He loves to play when he is out and ball games are his favourite. When in the house he loves having company but also likes his own space so we are looking for owners that can give him the space he needs. He can be left for a few hours at a time and is housetrained.

More about me

Benji can live with children of 16 years and over and has to be the only pet in the household.

During these uncertain times, whilst we have had to unfortunately close our rehoming centres to the public, we’d like to reassure you that our wonderful staff will continue to provide the best possible care for our dogs. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those individuals, who are doing everything they can to make sure our dogs get fed, walked and looked after. We appreciate you thinking of us at what is a difficult time for all. If you would like to make a donation to support whilst we continue looking after the dogs in our care you can do so here...

How rehoming works

Thank you for your interest in Benji, who is based at Glasgow. Please note this is not a reservation on this dog. To start the rehoming process you will need to go to a rehoming centre for a quick chat. Please find information below about what to expect during the rehoming process. We hope to see you soon.

  1. The average time between visiting a Rehoming Centre and taking your new pet home is just eight days. Every circumstance is different but this brief guide lets you know what you will experience when you decide to rehome a dog from us.
  2. The rehoming centre is your gateway to finding your new pet pooch. When you arrive at the centre you will be greeted in reception by a friendly face.
  3. During this first visit we will take a few details from you so we know what you are looking for. You will be able to visit the dogs and we'll advise you on how to find the right dog for your circumstance and that your circumstances will work for the dog too.
  4. We would like you to get to know your chosen dog before you take him home so, if you have any other dogs or family members, you may need to bring them along for a further visit to ensure the whole family is happy with the decision.
  5. The fee for rehoming a dog is £150 (£140 in Ballymena due to extra dog licence fees),for puppies its £150 adoption fee plus a £45 Dog School fee but every dog is vet checked, microchipped, and neutered as well as a very cool Dogs Trust lead and collar - so we think it's a good deal!
  6. On rehoming your new dog from Dogs Trust you can receive 4 weeks' free insurance from our partner Petplan, this covers your dog for any unexpected illnesses and injuries, for further details and to activate your 4 weeks' free trial visit the Petplan website.
  7. So now you are ready to take your new pal home, just one more step which is a pre-adoption talk. This ensures you are aware of the responsibilities of dog ownership and reminds you that we are always here when you need us!
  8. Get in touch with the centre your dog is located at to arrange a visit.
