Are you right for Chester?

Chester is all about relationship and he will need regular visits to the centre so that he can start building trust. His new owners will need to live within an hour of the centre. During the reserve process we would bring him out to the home for visits so he can become familiar with the environment, and this will help him adjust. Our training and behaviour team will be on hand to demonstrate what we've been teaching Chester and guide his new owners on how to continue this in the home. Chester will need a home that has a suitable outside kennel or converted outbuilding/garage. It may be, in time, that he can slowly be transitioned into the home. Open plan living wouldn't be suitable for Chester as he would need a safe, comfortable room of his own and not be able to meet visitors at the front door. Chester is quite worried by other dogs; we have worked on this, and he does have a couple of dog friends that he can walk alongside. He does wear a muzzle so needs owners who are happy to continue this. Chester needs an adult only home with a maximum of 2 people. He can get overexcited sometimes and can mouth your arms, although he does this less with people he knows well. Chester is a dog who needs an owner who will work through some of his quirks and take time to build a trusting relationship. He is a lot of fun and will thrive in the right set up.

Is Chester right for you?

Chester is a fun-loving character who loves to play with his toys. He has learnt how to bring and drop a toy at your feet to start the game again. He also enjoys a game of tug. Best of all he is happy to play with toys on his own which is very entertaining to watch as he flings them in the air! Chester is quite an independent chap who is happy in his own company and needs to have choice to go off and do his own thing. It takes Chester time to warm to new people so he will require owners who will take things at his pace and build that all important relationship. It is so rewarding when you do; he's such good company. Once he's built that bond one of his favourite things is to reverse into you for a bum scratch! Chester really enjoys training and learning new things. We have been teaching him new skills to help him adjust to a new home. Chester loves long quiet walks in the countryside, and he would love his own secure garden for off lead fun and games.
