Lonely ladies at Dogs Trust hoping to 'leap' into your home

With Leap Year coming around but once every four years, these homeless hounds at Dogs Trust West Calder will be making the ‘mutts’ of the opportunity, and appealing to dog lovers everywhere, in the hope of finding a forever home.

Border Collie crosses Lady and Holly, Labrador Keira, Crossbreeds Biscuit, Tia and Sugar Plum, Labrador Cross Summer and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Venus are all hoping that this special date will see them leaping into new homes.

Susan Tonner, Rehoming Centre Manager says:

“We have a lot of lovely, but lonely ladies all looking for the one here at Dogs Trust West Calder. As the 29th is notorious for females taking charge, we are hoping that their personalities will catch the eye of a loving new owner.”

Ten year old Crossbreed Biscuit is a delightful lady, who is very affectionate and loving with everyone she knows. Housetrained, Biscuit enjoys trips in the car and will need an adult only home with new owners who can spend lots of time with her!

Beautiful but sensitive Holly needs an experienced and understanding owner, as she needs to build her confidence in a quiet, adult only home. Holly loves to play, and someone who can devote time to helping her settle in to a routine, will have a friend for life!

Adorable eleven year old Keira has the heart of a puppy and loves walks, playtime, treats and fun! The ‘older lady’ in her does enjoy her home comforts, so she will need a home where she has time to relax. She does have arthritic knees, but doesn’t let this slow her down!

Lady is a loving girl who enjoys an active lifestyle! She’ll happily play for hours, as long as she can have lots of time to relax too, in an adult only home with no other canine companions. Lady is house-trained and enjoys car trips.

Sugar Plum

Sugar Plum has had a tough start in life, arriving underweight and with not much experience of two or four legged friends. She needs a quiet, adult only home with someone who can devote the time to settle her in. She enjoys the garden, and watching the world go by. In the right home and with lots of love and reassurance, Sugar Plum will be sweet by name, sweet by nature!

Cuddly Crossbreed Tia is an energetic girl who enjoys her walks, and a game or two of fetch! She adores cuddles and will give them aplenty once she knows you. Tia can be nervous around strangers, but will flourish in a confident home, with children aged over 16.

Eleven year old Venus is all about the ‘girl power’ and needs a female only, quiet, adult only home. She is happy to share kisses, cuddles and a game of fetch! Venus would like to find a new owner who has experience of the breed, who also has a secure garden!

If you think you could give any of our lovely ladies the homes they deserve, please contact Dogs Trust West Calder on 0300 303 0292.
