Fostering with us

Fostering a dog is a rewarding experience for humans and dogs alike.

Here at Dogs Trust West Calder, we make sure you have all the support you need to give your temporary four-legged friend a happy life in your home.

Since Dogs Trust’s Home from Home scheme launched in 2016, our incredible foster carers have helped over 700 dogs get back on their paws. It’s an experience our carers enjoy, with Laura and Roy Johnstone having recently celebrated fostering their 130th dog since joining the scheme when it was first introduced!

From puppy litters to golden oldies, our foster carers have the opportunity to take in all types of dogs to best suit your lifestyle. Our enthusiastic team of Home from Home Coordinators are ready to help every step of the way, from finding your perfect fostering match to preparing you for a smooth transition to them finding their new forever home.

We couldn't do it without our foster carers

We love celebrating our foster carers for their dedication to the dogs in their care. We hold events at the Rehoming Centre throughout the year to bring our fantastic Home from Home team together. Our popular summer barbeque and festive Christmas lunch are great for carers to share ideas and experiences, to support one another in their unique community and to have fun!

Dedicated to giving as much support as possible to dogs and dog-lovers across Scotland, Dogs Trust West Calder is expanding the Home from Home scheme across the whole of the Lothians and the Scottish Borders, giving dogs of all shapes and sizes the opportunity to relax in a comfortable home environment with lots of TLC while they wait for their forever families. We also work closely with Dogs Trust Dundee, a newly launched branch focused on extending Home from Home into the northeast of Scotland, helping to find more loving foster homes for dogs in our care.
