Volunteering at West Calder
We enjoy working as a tight-knit team at West Calder, and our volunteers play a key role within it.
Our volunteers make sure our dogs have a comfortable stay at our rehoming centre while they wait for their forever homes.
There are lots of volunteering opportunities at our rehoming centre to suit every interest. From reception assistance for friendly team players to groundskeeping for green-fingered gardeners. Of course, there’s plenty of time to play with our pooches too!
We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers. To thank them for their amazing contributions, we hold social events throughout the year to bring our fantastic crew together. Whether playing games at our popular summer barbeque, showing off your knowledge at our quiz nights or pulling crackers at our festive Christmas lunch, there are lots of opportunities to bond with your teammates from across the centre.

We’re proud to say our volunteers enjoy their time at the West Calder rehoming centre. Isobel Taggart gained her Platinum Award this year, volunteering with us for 10 years and dedicating almost 2,000 hours of her time to the rehoming centre!
A huge thank you to our volunteers
We currently have 33 members in our volunteer team. We’re always looking for more people of all ages to help with kennel cleaning, maintenance across our beautiful 23-acre property, and helping our reception team welcome guests.
By lending a hand around the rehoming centre, our volunteers give our staff extra time to focus on finding dogs their perfect forever home. Alongside joining a team of likeminded dog-lovers, you’ll put your skills to use in a friendly environment and help our four-legged friends live their best lives during their time at Dogs Trust.
