Wagging Tails at Annual Volunteer BBQ

Our volunteers do a brilliant job spoiling our dogs with squeaky toys and tasty treats. This National Volunteer Week, the team at Dogs Trust West Calder thanked volunteers for their amazing contributions with some fun and games of their own!

To say thank you to our fantastic volunteers, Volunteer Coordinator Garry Lee and Home from Home Coordinator Shona Crosbie organised a celebration fit for royalty to kick-off the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

“We put the event together to celebrate our dedicated volunteers for all the hard work they do for the centre,” said Garry. “It was a real success, and everybody had a good time.”

Making the most of the long sunny days, volunteers gathered at West Calder Rehoming Centre on Thursday 2nd June for a fun-filled barbeque. As well as sizzling burgers, there were lots of games on offer. Splitting into teams, volunteers bonded over competitive matches of ring toss, lawn darts, and a very tense game of Jenga.

“It was great to bring all of our team together,” said Shona. “Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves and it was a great opportunity for them to swap stories with each other about their experiences.”

Volunteers play a vital role in helping our dogs get back on their paws. Whether helping keep their kennels at the Rehoming Centre clean and cosy or temporarily opening their homes to a dog in need, their support means Dogs Trust can continue to find happy, loving homes for dogs.

Everyone at Dogs Trust West Calder would like to extend a wholehearted thank you to all of our volunteers!

Dogs Trust West Calder are currently recruiting new volunteers to help at the centre, as well as foster carers for their Home from Home scheme. Find out more about our current volunteering opportunities here.
