'Paw'some' tours and tales of dogs hoping to sniff out new homes

Dogs Trust Loughborough is offering dog-lovers the chance to find out just what it takes to look after hundreds of dogs in need of new homes.

The team at the Loughborough based rehoming centre are offering free behind-the-scenes tours to community groups - and the chance to meet some of the four-legged residents - or the opportunity for groups to have a team member chat to them about all things canine at their own venue.

Dogs Trust Loughborough Supporter Relations Officer (SRO), Hannah Graham, says:

“I became the SRO in June and want to get out and about to meet as many local dog lovers as possible, or welcome them to the rehoming centre!

“I joined Dogs Trust in 2014 as a receptionist and became Volunteer Co-ordinator. In both roles it was always lovely to see people’s reactions when they first come into the centre as it’s not what they expect!”

Hannah isn’t the only one finding her feet in a new role. Since becoming SRO she has recruited her own dog, five year old Rottweiler Mya, who she adopted from Dogs Trust in 2014 to become her trusted assistant, accompanying her on visits to community groups.

Hannah adds:

“Giving groups a tour of the rehoming centre provides people with a fantastic insight into what it takes to look after so many dogs, and of course there’s always the added bonus of meeting some of our current dogs waiting for their forever homes.

“But if a visit to Dogs Trust Loughborough isn’t possible, I can pop along to their venue and introduce them to Mya!”
