It’s a ‘land-bark’ day for Dogs Trust Loughborough
Dogs Trust Loughborough has celebrated its sixth birthday and finding forever homes for more than 4,000 homeless hounds.
Since the rehoming centre opened its doors to the dog-loving public in June 2012, dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages, from newborn puppies to Old Age Pooches (OAPs), have found their perfect two-legged friends to head off to their new home with.
Celine Di Crocco, Dogs Trust Loughborough Manager says:
“We have said a fond farewell to 4,256 dogs since we opened. This year alone we have rehomed 250, so the support from dog-lovers wanting to give a dog a second chance is as strong as ever, which is fantastic.
“We look after around 100 dogs every day and every week we have the joy of seeing some head home. Thanks to everyone’s support, from bringing in donations of treats for training to blankets and beds, we can give them absolutely everything they need whilst they are with us and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone.”
Five-year-old Alaskan Malamute Harley arrived at the rehoming centre as the birthday celebrations got underway and Staffordshire Bull Terrier Phil, who is four, joined in the party for the second time as he has been a resident since August 2016 after being found as a stray.
“Harley is very typical of the dogs we look after as she came in through no fault of her own; she arrived after a change in her owner’s circumstances meant she was being left alone for longer than was ideal.
“Harley loves people and Phil is full of fun and very lively! It would be a dream come true if they both found their new families before we’ve taken the birthday balloons down!”
Harley would prefer a home without young children but can live with young adults and she enjoys learning new things to keep her brain busy. She could also potentially live with another calm dog. Phil is looking for an adult-only home with no other pets but with owners who love to get out and about as much as he does.
If you think you could be the one to give Harley or Phil the homes of their dreams, please call Dogs Trust Loughborough on 0300 303 0292.
