Dogs Trust Loughborough hopes National Grandparents Day on Sunday proves every dog has its day

Staff at Dogs Trust Loughborough are hoping National Grandparents Day on Sunday (1 October) will prove every dog really does have its day.

Sisters ten-year-old Roxy and eight-year-old Wilson arrived at the rehoming centre after their owner sadly passed away. Now they have their paws crossed in the hope that this Sunday will see their special someone fall in love with them.

Celine Di Crocco, Dogs Trust Loughborough Rehoming Centre Manager says:

“It’s especially sad when older dogs come to us and sometimes they do get overlooked, but there are so many advantages of having an older dog. They often need less exercise but are as much fun, they’re used to living in a home and their personality is already shaped so new owners can really understand and appreciate the dog that they are welcoming into their family. These two really deserve to find their ideal home together as they are devoted to each other.”

Despite being Older Age Pooches, Roxy and Wilson are still active ladies who love to head out for interesting walks and are often found entertaining themselves as they love to play together too, particularly games of tug.

Celine adds:

“They really make you smile when you see them as they are just happy girls. Roxy can be a little shy but is more than willing to show off the fact that she knows all her basic commands, especially if there is a tasty treat or two on offer, and Wilson loves to play with her toys. She particularly loves fetch! We’re really hoping this weekend helps us find this adorable pair their forever home where they can happily spend their twilight years at the heart of a family.”

Roxy and Wilson can live with older children but would prefer not to share their sofa with another dog in their new home. They love the company of their two-legged friends so would like their owners to be around most of the time, especially whilst they settle in.
